Bowers Works for Fair Board Bill

Rep. Elaine Bowers wored for the passage of House Bill 2208 that streamlines the appointment process for Cloud County Fair Board members.
Under the new law recently signed by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, county commissioners will appoint Fair Board members instead of requiring an election at the annual meeting of the county extension council.
Bowers said the bill was an opportunity to simplify the selections of Fair Board members "because of the re-organization of the extension council to include multiple counties. It just became very difficult to have an annual meeting to select members." Bowers said, "After talking with the people involved with the Fair Board and reaching a solution based on appointments by county commissioners, I was happy to help get this bill passed to help Cloud County."
Sebelius signed the bill into law just last week, and it will take effect when printed in the state register.
